First Look at Star Wars Series Skeleton Crew Revealed Through Merchandise

An early glimpse into a fresh Star Wars series has made its way to us in a manner quite unanticipated. The initial sighting of the upcoming Star Wars series Skeleton Crew has unfolded rather unexpectedly.

Recent merchandise releases have provided an insightful glimpse into the youthful ensemble leading the narrative: Skeleton Crew promises a journey across the galaxy reminiscent of Amblin classics, featuring children as the protagonists and Jude Law in a significant role.

A special-edition ingot adorned with the young characters' portraits and its packaging offers a clearer view. Details can be found further down (courtesy of IGN).

Although no promotional footage for Skeleton Crew has been shared publicly, a confidential preview was shown at the Star Wars Celebration 2023. The footage depicted several young individuals eluding capture aboard a spacecraft, their guardians filled with concern for them, and Law – portraying a Jedi – lending them aid. Essentially, it bears a resemblance to The Goonies but is set in the Star Wars universe.

Looking ahead in the Star Wars lineup, The Acolyte is set to debut on June 4, marking the inaugural live-action venture during the High Republic era. This murder mystery boasts an extensive cast, including Carrie-Anne Moss, Lee Jung-jae of Squid Game fame, Amandla Stenberg, Manny Jacinto, Joonas Suotamo, and Jodie Turner-Smith.

Regarding The Acolyte, producer Simon Emanuel shared with SFX Magazine, a fellow publication, "It serves as an entry point, and one doesn't need any prior Star Wars knowledge to dive right in."

While a release date for Skeleton Crew is still pending, it is anticipated to premiere later this year. In the meantime, for an exhaustive look at what's on the horizon in the Star Wars realm, be sure to explore our guide to all forthcoming Star Wars movies and television series.
