Gentler Streak 5.0 Update: Enhanced Sleep Analysis and Wellbeing Features Unveiled

The recent update of Gentler Streak enhances its capabilities with new features aimed at improving user experience. This fitness tracking application is integrating advanced methods for analyzing sleep, broadening the range of tools available for health management. The latest version is now available on the App Store, presenting functionalities like Sleep Analysis and Sleep Insights, which utilize data from Apple Health to assess sleep quality. Additionally, the Wellbeing section has benefitted from a redesign, providing distinct Body Metrics and Health areas.

In version 5.0 of Gentler Streak, users will notice the introduction of a new Sleep card within the Wellbeing section, which provides comprehensive details pertaining to sleep quality. This includes metrics such as total sleep duration, various sleep stages, restorative sleep phases, the time it takes to fall asleep, and the time of awakening. While this information is updated daily, users can also review sleep metrics from the last fortnight.

Along with the latest version, insights about sleep will now be visible below the section for sleep stages in the application. Although these features are accessible to every user, the comprehensive sleep overview charts and the 14-day sleep quality history are reserved for premium subscribers. The application relies on data collected by a user's Apple Watch, which captures information on activity levels, health indicators, and sleep patterns. It is important to note that the sleep insights feature requires at least one recorded sleep session within a two-week timeframe to function correctly. The developer indicates that employing multiple tracking tools or apps that monitor sleep using sound may influence the accuracy of the displayed data.

The update also transforms the layout of the Wellbeing tab, distinctly separating Body Metrics from sleep-related data. In the Body Metrics section, information including sleeping heart rate, wrist temperature, variability in heart rate, blood oxygen levels, and respiratory rate will be presented, while the newly introduced sleep card will feature in the Health section. Users have the option to personalize the Wellbeing tab to display or conceal these health metrics. It is essential to highlight that features like wrist temperature monitoring are only compatible with specific smartwatch models that possess the ability to track these health metrics, such as the Apple Watch Series 8 (or newer), along with the Apple Watch Ultra and Watch Ultra 2.
