The much-anticipated Life by You, set to rival The Sims 4, has faced yet another delay in its Early Access phase, and currently, a new launch timeline remains unannounced. Life by You, poised to challenge The Sims for supremacy in the life simulation genre, has seen its initial release pushed back for the third time.
A statement from Paradox Interactive's second-in-command, Mattias Lilja, explains the situation: "After careful deliberation, we have come to the difficult decision to withdraw the previously scheduled Early Access release of Life by You on June 4th. We fully appreciate our community's enthusiasm and eagerness towards this game, but we firmly believe that additional time dedicated to development will significantly benefit the final product."
This setback marks a departure from earlier postponements where Paradox had at least offered a subsequent release date, albeit tentatively. The exact reasons for the latest delay remain unspecified, contrasting prior instances where the need for enhanced visual fidelity, particularly in character design and gameplay improvements, were cited. At this point, no explicit rationale has been shared.
"We promise to share more information as soon as we can. Until then, we extend our deepest thanks for your ongoing support and patience," conveyed Lilja.
The excitement at GR+ for Life by You has been palpable since its reveal in March 2023. The game's promise of deep customization options, nuanced dialogue systems that mimic actual human interaction, and a dedicated modding platform has had our team eagerly awaiting its release. Interestingly, despite its apparent competition with The Sims, studio head Rod Humble mentioned in an interview with Edge that chess partially served as an inspiration for the game, a surprising revelation.
