Naughty Dog Not Likely to Make The Last of Us Part III

Naughty Dog, the American video game developer renowned for creating renowned titles such as Uncharted and The Last of Us, may not be making a third installment in their award-winning series. In a recent interview, Naughty Dog's creative director, Neil Druckmann, revealed that the studio isn't likely to continue with The Last of Us Part III.
When asked about the possibility of a third installment, Druckmann said, "You know, I think it's unlikely we'll do a Part III. We've done this kind of story, these characters, we feel like we've done justice to them. But who knows, you know, five years from now? Maybe we'll have some crazy idea, but right now, it doesn't feel like it." These comments suggest that the studio is not planning to make The Last of Us Part III anytime soon, if ever.

In addition to these comments, Druckmann went on to say that the studio was more interested in exploring new ideas and stories. He said, “What we really want to do is take our time and experience the next thing we create. It’s really about us taking our time and finding the right thing and saying, ‘What’s the unique experience we can create here?’” This suggests that the studio is looking to move away from The Last of Us franchise and explore new directions.

Furthermore, Druckmann also mentioned that the studio would continue to support the existing The Last of Us titles. He said, “We’re still supporting Part II, we have multiplayer plans and single-player plans, so we’re going to keep supporting it. We’re focusing more on the next thing, the next big thing, so we don’t know what that is yet.” This indicates that the studio is looking to the future and are not focused on making The Last of Us Part III.

It appears that Naughty Dog is not likely to make The Last of Us Part III. The studio is more interested in exploring new ideas and stories and plans to continue to support the existing titles instead. While this news may be disappointing to fans of the franchise, it is clear that the studio has exciting plans for the future.
